Red Cabbage

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Red cabbage Cut up
  • 2 quarts Water
  • 1 cup Cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 3 tablespoon Brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoon Flour
  • 1/2 cup Raisins
  • 1/2 pound Chestnuts Peeled and chopped into 3 pieces

Instructions
 

  • Chop cabbage, wash and drain. Bring water and vinegar to a boil. Add cabbage and cook 10 minutes. Drain in collander. Put butter, cabbage and brown sugar into pot and cook slowly. Add 2 Tbsp flour slowly as cabbage cooks. Cook 2 hours over very low heat and stir every 10 minutes. Add raisins. Boil raw chestnuts 2 minutes so you can peel and chop into thirds. Boil for 10 minutes in water, drain, add to cabbage and serve.
